Celebrate Christmas with Penny Black

simplicity sister

Oh my! How this year is flying by. Today I have a Christmas card to share with you using some gorgeous Penny Black products. Lots of ink blending on this one – with three of my most favourite Distress inks – Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon and Mustard Seed. Once my panel was inked, I flicked it with some water and a paintbrush and dabbed it with a dry cloth to create the spatters.

I then die cut the Penny Black Twirl Tree three times and adhered these together with some spray adhesive. I also die cut the Penny Black Hello Christmas sentiment three times from white card stock and adhered these together. The celebrate sentiment is from the Holiday Snippets stamp set.

Jane’s Doodles Release Blog Hop

Jane's Doodle Banner

Hello! Today is the release blog hop for Jane’s Doodles Stamps. You should have arrived from Zrinka’s blog.

Today, two new sets are being released into the store and they are Rain or Shine and Ahoy! Once again, Jane has done an amazing job at designing these sets. I find her stamps so easy to create cute little scenes with them.

Rain or Shine

Ahoy!

Jane's Doodles Ahoy!

First up I’ve created a one layer card using the Rain or Shine set.

Jane's Doodles - Rain or Shine | Marion Vagg

I added two layers of Glossy Accents to the umbrella for lots of dimension. Unfortunately the white dots I drew on the umbrella got a little lost underneath all of that shine.

Next up is a card using the Ahoy! stamp set. I had a lot of fun colouring these images (with Copics) and creating this scene. It’s going to be a birthday card for my daughter who turns 6 in December. She is very much a tom boy and loves all things pirates, so this card is perfect for her. It hasn’t really shown up in the photo very well, but there is a very lightly sponged blue sky with clouds. If you squint you may see some of it – it is much better in real life.

A couple of Jane’s Doodles cards

Jane's Doodle Banner

I have a couple of Jane’s Doodles cards that I haven’t shared here on my blog yet. My life has been SUPER crazy busy the past month – but hopefully things can start to get back to normal soon (but who am I kidding – both my kids have their birthdays in December, school finishes soon so I’m finalising school reports, end of year activities, Christmas is looming….you get the idea. Bring on January I say :))

First up, I have a one layer card using the Winter Wishes stamp set – which is one of my favourite Jane’s Doodles set. I now know why I don’t make one layer cards very often as I’m not a fan of masking. I like the idea, but the actual practise of it is another thing. But it was fun to give it another go. Laura Bassen I take my hat off to you. You are the one layer queen in my eyes!

JD Season's Greeting | Marion Vagg

Next up is a a sentiment-less card using the Doodle Flower and Doodle Flower II stamp sets. This card was really quick to make and could be used for a variety of occasions. I could even add a sentiment really easily if I wanted too. I stamped the images in various colours of inks and then coloured some of the images in with a matching Copic marker colour.

I Love You – Sunny Studio

Hello. Today I have a fun little tag to share with you using some Sunny Studio stamps which is also over on the Sunny Studio blog. I’ve used the Harvest Happiness stamp set and with a little bit of masking and creative imagination, I’ve turned the turkey from the set into a chicken.

Happy Harvest Sunny Studio

Sunny Studio I love you | Marion Vagg

I hand drew the chicken’s combs and added a bow tie as well. I had to mask off the little bit of skin hanging down from the turkey’s beak (called a snood I discovered) with a teeny tiny mask. I also masked off a part of the sentiment to just make it say I Love You.

My little scene is coloured with Copic markers.

Supplies

Stamps: Sunny Studio Harvest Happiness Stamp set

Card: X-Press It Blending card

Ink: Memento ink – Tuxedo Black

Other Supplies: Copic markers, Foam dimensionals, Stickles – Christmas Red, Memento marker – Tuxedo Black, Tag, Twine

I hope I have given you some inspiration and maybe you will look at some of your sets and find an unintended way to use them.
