Four Penny Black Cards

This past week I had the pleasure of being featured on the main Penny Black blog, using new products from their latest catalogues Be Merry and Hello Autumn. I had a lot of fun making these clean and simple cards.

Day 1’s card used the wonderful Layered Poinsettia die and the sentiment came from the Gather Around stamp set. I added score lines to the petals and leaves with a scoring stylus and coloured them with Distress Inks. I custom made the grey panel by scoring lines on a score board.

Day 2’s card used the Hello Autumn stamp set and was coloured with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.

Day 3’s card used the Hills and Trees Creative die. I love the unusual colour combo which I created effortlessly with Oxide Distress Inks. The sentiment is from the Banner Sentiments set.

And my final Day 4 card is probably my favourite of them all. Aren’t these mice adorable? They are from the Gather Around stamp set.

I coloured them with Copic markers, and then added in all the details (such as the fur on the mice) with Prismacolor pencils.

Thank you Butterfly – Penny Black

simplicity sister

I have a Penny Black card to share with you today – using two of my most favourite crafty items – Dies and Oxide Inks. I *may* have added a couple more Distress Oxide inks to my stash recently, so I was just itching to use them.

I started by masking off a border on the front panel of my card, and blended in some Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Candied Apple Oxide ink. I spritzed the Penny Black Verdure rubber stamp with some water and stamped the inked panel – I love the watermark/oxide ink effect that it created in the background.

I then added the Penny Black Swirling Wings butterfly die onto the panel and white heat embossed the Thank You sentiment onto black card stock. It is part of a sentiment from the Penny Black Kind Words stamp set (I did some stamp surgery).

Penny Black products used:
Penny Black 51-137 Swirling Wings Creative Die
Penny Black 40-475 Verdure Stamp
Penny Black 30-226 Kind Words stamp set

Supplies

Ink: Versamark ink, Oxide Inks – Candied Apple, Fossilized Amber, Spice Marmalade

Just For You Fruity Goodness

Jane's Doodle Banner

Hello! I have a card over on the Jane’s Doodles blog using the new Life is Good stamp set. You can find the post here.

I have always wanted a mason jar stamp – and I finally have one! I can see lots of fun uses for this set. To create my card, I flipped over the various fruit stamps on my acrylic block and stamped the wrong side first. Once dry, I used the right side of the stamp and stamped with black ink.

The mason jar is silver heat embossed onto vellum. I toyed with the idea of adding some tiny sequins into the jar, but I just couldn’t get it right, so I left it. I’ll certainly be doing a shaker version one day though.

Supplies

Stamps: Jane’s Doodles Life is Good stamp set

Card: X-Press It blending card, Hero Arts layering papers – Blush

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black ink, VersaFine – Onyx Black ink, Hero Arts inks – Orange Soda, Bubblegum, Butterbar, Corn Flower

Other Supplies: Silver embossing powder, Heat tool, Anti Static powder bag, Fun foam

Short and sweet from me today,

Marion
