Cute Critters – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

Hello friends. My life has been somewhat busy lately as I’ve been writing school reports, and I haven’t had a lot of time to craft. However, I’m pleased to announce that I’m almost finished, and I’m looking forward to the next holiday in 3 weeks time.

Anyway, I’ve had two cards up on the Jane’s Doodle blog over the past few weeks that I haven’t shared here yet.

First up I’ve used the Belated Birthday set to make this cute little critter card. On the inside it says Happy Birthday. See the original post here.

The next card was made for a student in my class who was leaving. I didn’t get a photo of the inside, but it said ‘Have a whale of a time”. I used the Under the Sea stamp set. I love making little scenes, and Jane’s sets are really fun to mix and match. See the original post here.

Happy Birthday Crab – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

Happy Saturday. I have a cute Jane’s Doodles card to share with you that I had a lot of fun making. Jane has some adorable stamp sets and it was really fun mixing some of these together. The crab is from the Under the Sea set and sentiment is from a set called Belated Birthday (I did a little stamp surgery here). The present is from a Christmas set called Driving Home for Christmas.

I started with a die cut circle which I blended with a mixture of Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch distress oxide inks. I splattered on some water to create the bubbles. The images were stamped and coloured with Copics and then fussy cut them out. The sand hill is hand cut.

This card is a little different as the focal image is on the inside of the card…and can be seen through the window.

Supplies

Stamps: Jane’s Doodles Under the Sea, Belated Birthday and Driving Home for Christmas stamp sets

A Floral Hello – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

Good evening. I have another Jane’s Doodles card to share with you.

I took a square panel of Bristol smooth white card stock and heavily blended on some Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink. When completely dry, I white heat embossed a flower from the Blooms stamp set, then created a mask before white heat embossing the second flower. The sentiment is from the Daisies stamp set was also white heat embossed. To add some details to the flowers, I first used a white Prismacolor pencil and then added the violet shades over the top.

To finish off the card, I splattered some water, which reacted with the Distress Oxide ink.

Supplies

Stamps: Jane’s Doodles Bloom and Daisies stamp set

Card: Bristol Srathmore smooth white card stock, XPress It Blending card, Light grey card stock

Ink: Versamark ink, Distress Oxide ink – Wilted Violet

Other Supplies: Hero Arts white embossing powder, Heat tool, Anti-static powder bag, Prismacolor pencils (PC 938 White,  PC933 Violet Blue, PC932 Violet) Paintbrush and water for splatters, Mounting foam

Short and sweet from me today.
Thanks for stopping by.

Spotlight on Sweet Spring 5 – Penny Black

Hello! I’m back with my fifth and final installment for Penny Black, using products from their latest catalogue called Sweet Spring. Actually I have 2 cards to share – very similar, yet slightly different. The main focus of both cards uses this awesome Creative die called Leaf Pattern.

Leaf Pattern

First I created an inked panel using Salty Ocean, Lucky Clover and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide inks. I die cut this panel with the Leaf Pattern die. I also die cut another one out, but from white card stock. I then inlaid all of the coloured pieces into the white negative space and also the white pieces into the coloured negative space – to create two panels that are the opposite of each other. This was quite time consuming, but I found this quite therapeutic and relaxing.

This first card was the easier of the two cards to make. To finish this one off, I die cut a black banner using the Birds and Banners Creative dies and white heat embossed the sentiment which is from the coordinating Banner Sentiments stamp set. I added some subtle shading to the banner with a white Prismacolor pencil to give it some dimension.

For the second card I stepped it up a notch. I die cut a circle into the Leaf Pattern panel using the circle from the Layered Xmas Wreath die set. Behind the window that this created, a placed an impressed panel of the Leaf Pattern die, making sure to line up the patterns. The wonderful word sentiment is from the Awesome creative die set, which I die cut three times and adhered together to make it stronger. I suspended this over the window.

I found a felt heart floating around in my stash, and it fit perfectly behind the sentiment and in the window. It was just a pop of colour that this card needed. I coated the wonderful sentiment in a layer of clear shimmer pen.
