Jane’s Doodles – LOTS of cards!

Jane's Doodle Banner

Hello friends. Today I have many Jane’s Doodles cards that I am sharing with you. They have been over on the Jane’s Doodles blog, but I have neglected to share them here – so strap yourself in, as there are a few cards.

The first card is my latest card that went up on the Jane’s Doodles blog today. The link to that post is here. This card was very much inspired by this card from Michelle from The Card Grotto. I love Michelle’s clean and simple style, and this card caught my eye a while ago. Thanks for all your inspiration Michelle! I’m a big fan!

I white heat embossed the butterflies from the Doodle Butterflies stamp set and some hearts from the Unicorn set before ink blending over the top. The Sending Hugs portion of the sentiment is from the All Occasions stamp set.

The next card uses the new Jane’s Doodle Poppy stamp set. I stamped and coloured the images with Copic markers and added shading with Prismacolor pencils. The sentiment is from the Girlfriend set. The link to that post is here.

The next card uses Doodle Butterflies again. I stamped and coloured the images with Copic markers and created a Distress ink wash for the background. The sentiment is from the Girlfriend set. The link to that post is here.

I had fun pulling out the Dogs stamp set to create this little scene. Again coloured with Copics. The background is Distress Oxide ink blending. The link to that post is here.

Moving along…This card uses the Happy Camper set. I love creating little scenes. The link to that card is here.

It’s no surprise that I love to create tags, and this is no exception. The link to this card is here. I used texture paste and a stencil to create the background. It created a perfect backdrop for the flowers from the Plumeria stamp set. The sentiment is from the All Occasions set.

This next card makes me happy! I love how it turned out. You can find the original link here. I used a mask to create the background. The stamp sets used are Rain or Shine and Life is Good.

Almost there….the next card uses a Christmas set called Driving Home for Christmas, but I thought I would use it for a different occasion. It also uses the Patterns and Cake! stamp sets. The original link is here.

And finally, I have a Thankful card using the Plumeria stamp set. The sentiment is from the Thankful set. The original post can be found here.

Phew. If you are still with me…congratulations! I didn’t realise I hadn’t posted so many of my Jane’s Doodles cards here to my blog.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time,

You’ve a Star – Penny Black Full Bloom Inspiration #2

Happy Sunday! I’m back today with another cute Penny Black critter from their latest release called Full Bloom. It’s no secret I’m in love with these little bears, and this one I’ve used today has especially won my heart. It’s called …Star and has a coordinating creative die as well.

My daughter loves soccer and this is her second season. I made this card for a friend of hers who plays on the same team, and celebrated her birthday this weekend.

To make something a little different to my standard card, I made a gatefold card. The image was coloured with Copic Markers and the sun and background were created with Distress Oxide inks (Salty Ocean, Mowed Lawn, Squeezed Lemonade and Fossilized Amber).

The #1 die cut on the inside of the card comes in the same …Star cut out die set. The friend sentiment is from the Number 1 stamp set and it is a great set as it has many names which could be substituted such as Dad, Mom, Teacher etc.

The cloud die cut is an older one, but a good one called Silver Linings.

The sun comes with the Friendship cut out die set.

You’ve Got A Friend – Penny Black Full Bloom Inspiration #1

Hello friends! Today I have a card to share (and the first of a few) showcasing some of the new stamps and dies from Penny Black’s latest release called Full Bloom.

For today’s card I couldn’t go past these adorable sea dogs just hanging out in a boat. Too cute! The stamp is called Friendship and the coordinating die is called Friendship cut out (and in this case I only used the sun from the die set).

PB You've got a friend detail | Marion Vagg

I stamped the image onto my card panel and coloured it with Copic markers. I then created a mask, and made by own sunny background rays using some thin washi tape. I sponged on some Squeezed Lemonade and Fossilized Amber Distress oxide ink. I extended the waves under the boat and created another hand cut mask and sponged on some Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress oxide ink. I popped up the sun with some mounting tape. The sentiment is from the same Friendship set.

Bear Hugs – Penny Black

simplicity sister

Hello friends! It’s been a little while since I have posted. Not because I haven’t been card making, just because life has been super busy and I haven’t got around to posting!

Today’s card is another adorable Penny Black critter from the Timeless release called Flower Teddy, which I haven’t had a chance to colour until now. I reached for Copic markers again (no surprise there), but I spiced things up a bit with an artsy and inky border.

The border was created by die cutting an oval from white card stock and then inking it with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink. I them spritzed the PB Honeycomb stencil with water and placed it randomly onto the inked border (where the water bleached the ink). To add to the distressed look, I also flicked on water, added some Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide ink and then in some places, inked over the stencil.

The sentiment is from the Happy Hugs stamp set (which I only stamped the Hugs and left off the Happy part). I finished off the card with some white gel pen details on the flowers and grounded the image by creating a floor with Prismacolor pencils.

Penny Black – Timeless Inspiration #3

Happy Sunday! I’m back with the third instalment of my Penny Black Timeless inspiration posts. I hope you have been inspired even just a little bit!

Today’s colourful one-layer card uses the Delicate Beauty stamp set and the sentiment is from a set called Grateful Sentiments. What I love about this sentiment set is that it comes with the beautiful scripty font (Grateful and Thank you) and then it has all these smaller sentiments. It is one very versatile set.

To create this card, I first stamped the sentiment in the middle of the card front. I then stamped the images around the sentiment – and what I stamped on the top, I turned around and stamped on the bottom. All coloured the florals with Copic markers.

When I had finished the card, I thought it needed some more greenery, so I added in some leaves from the Butterfly Garden set and coloured them in green. It looked more balanced after that.

To finish, I added some Seaglass Nuvo drops and added some detail with a white gel pen.

And while I’m talking about gel pens, I’ve found a new one which I just love! It is juicy and goes on so smoothly. It is a 1.0mm ball medium white Pentel pigment ink pen. I am loving it!

Supplies

Stamps: Penny Black Delicate Beauty, Grateful Sentiments and Butterfly Garden stamp sets

Card:  Neenah Solar White card stock

Ink: VersaFine ink, Memento Tuxedo Black ink

Other Supplies: Copic Markers (B02, B04, B06, Y15, Y17, YR65, YG03, YG17, R05, R29, R35, R39, V15, V17, BV08) , Nuvo drops Seaglass, Pentel pigment gel pen – white

You are a Blessing – Penny Black

simplicity sister

Hi friends! I hope you have had a great week. Today I have a card to share with you using some Penny Black products. I am really into floral cards at the moment, so when the urge is there, I have to respond. And I think this is probably one of my all time favourite floral stamps from Penny Black – Flower Cascade. The sentiment is from the Choose Happy stamp set.

The floral image was stamped and then coloured with Copic markers. I used a craft knife, a ruler and scissors to partially cut out the image and frame before mounting it onto the card base. I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine onyx black ink. To finish it off, I added some white gel pen detail to the petals and splattered some white ink onto the right side of the card.

I love how it turned out.

Penny Black products used:
40-466 Flower Cascade stamp set
30-464 Choose Happy stamp set

Supplies

Stamps: Penny Black Flower Cascade and Choose Happy stamp sets

Card: XPress It blending card stock, Blue card stock

Ink: VersaFine ink, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, White pigment ink

Other Supplies: Copic markers (I didn’t keep track of the ones I used!), Craft knife, Scissors, metal ruler, paintbrush (for ink splatter), Water, Signo uniball white gel pen
