Stretch Your Stamps cards

I was really inspired by Laurie Willison’s card in the online card class Online Card Class – Stretch Your Stamps 2, on Day 10. Laurie’s clean and simple design really appealed to me, so I thought I would give it a try. My hubby’s comment was ‘that’s a classy card’, so it has the thumbs up from him too. Thanks for your inspiration Laurie. I used the Paper Smooches Reflections stamp set.

And while I had the same stamp set out, I thought I would do a slightly different version.

Just for you @ Muse

Hello. I’m up again at the Muse Card Club.

muse_logo

For my card, I wanted to incorporate two of my crafting ‘loves’, and they are stamping and die cutting. The background was stamped using the Mama Elephant Modern Borders stamp set, in a gorgeous array of summery colours 🙂 (For those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, it won’t be long until those long summer days will be with us again). The butterfly is a My Favorite Things die.

Just for You | Marion Vagg

There are actually 3 vellum butterflies stacked on top of each other to add some interest and dimension.

Tag – You’re It Challenge #2

We had a massive response to the first Tag You’re It! Challenge. What’s more, you are in for another treat, as our guest designer for Challenge #2 is one of my all-time-favourite card makers – Laura Bassen! And what a beauty it is as well.

TYIC_2I took some of the elements from Laura’s tag – the leaves, the die cut and the colour. To create the multicoloured sunburst background, I used Distress markers and coloured each ray individually and then spritzed lightly with water before stamping.

A challenge with Therese

Today my blogging buddy Therese Calvird and I have a little treat for you. When we met in person over a year ago, we decided that we should have a mini challenge between us. It has taken a little while to get off the ground, but better late than never right?

For today’s challenge we are using this gorgeous cake as our inspiration.

I loved the airy look of the butterflies and the overall colour scheme. Here is what I came up with.

You're Loved | Marion Vagg

I white heat embossed the Hero Arts Antique Engraving’s butterfly onto vellum and cut it out. The leaves are also die cut from vellum to replicate that airy look on the cake. In order to create some interest in the background, I blended in some distress inks and then using a Studio Calico Chevron mask, I lightly spritzed it with some water. The water reacts with the distress ink and created a watermark look.

You're Love - Detail | Mario Vagg

Well I am off to Therese’s blog – Lostinpaper, to she what gorgeous creation she has made. How about you hop on over as well?

Supplies

Stamps: Hero Arts Antique Engravings stamp set, AnnaBelle Stamps Scribble Scrabble 1 – Round and Round Stamp set (sentiment)

Card: Xpress-It Blending card, Vellum, Black cardstock

Ink: Distress Markers – Salty Ocean, Broken China, Peacock Feathers

Other Supplies: Hero Arts white embossing powder, Heat tool, Anti-Static pillow, Water spray bottle, Studio Calico Huey’s Masks – Chevron Mask, AnnaBelle Stamps clear sprinkles, WPlus 9 Folk Art Floral’s die, Cuttlebug, Glossy Accents (to adhere sprinkles an butterflies)

Chevrons and flowers

Welcome back to another week at the Muse Card Club.

muse_logo

I was recently asked to coordinate a card making table at a fundraising evening held at my church. I jumped at the opportunity to make cards and the following was the one we made. Die cutting with some inking and stamping. Simple, but effective. I really love the combination of chevrons and flowers. Some of the ladies chose to take their design in a different direction which I was all for – a bit like Muse really 🙂 I wonder where this card will take you?
