Happy Birthday at Muse and a Farewell

muse_logo

It is my week at the Muse Card Club and sadly, it will be my last Muse card. I have thoroughly enjoyed my 2.5 years of being a Muse and working with a fabulous team (both past and present). But alas, I feel it is time for me pass the Muse baton on to someone else. Who is that someone? Well you will just have to wait for that announcement in the coming weeks.

So, onto my card. A bright and happy birthday card using some My Favorite Things products. The subtle background chevrons were created with a metal die, but I used a rubber embossing mat, instead of a cutting plate. This is a great way to get more use out of your wafer thin dies. The balloons have some subtle Copic marker shading to add a little bit of dimension.

Muse #118 – Canine trio

muse_logo

Hello! This week I have a canine card up on the Muse Card Club blog.

I’m not a dog person at all, but I recently had a request for some dog themed cards and this is one of the cards that I came up with. The die cuts are in-laid into the focal panel – I love this technique. Even though I am a cat person, I am quite partial to that cute little dachshund right in the middle. My grandparents used to own a dachshund when I was growing up and his name was Fritz. I have fond memories of walking Fritz around the block with his short stubby legs going flat out and his ears flapping in the breeze!

So are you a dog or a cat person, or neither perhaps?

I hope that you can find some time to play along this week. It may not be the dogs that inspire you, but maybe the layout or the colour scheme or the technique. Whatever inspires you I can’t wait to see you link it up over at the Muse Blog.

Muse #109 – It’s Your Birthday

muse_logo

I was determined NOT to make a blue card for the Muse Card Club this month. Looking through my last Muse cards, blue seems to be something I gravitate too! So how about a dose of yellow for this month?

It[s Your Birthday | Marion Vagg

These sweet birds (coloured with Copics) are from the Penny Black ‘Woodland Friends’ Stamp set and the sentiment is also from a Penny Black set called ‘Live it Up!’. I created the background by creating a wash with Distress inks, and once dry, flicked on some splatters with a paintbrush.

Hope that you will be able to find some time this week to join in on the fun.

Muse #105 – God Bless You

muse_logo

Another month has rolled around and it is my turn to be the Muse at the Muse Card Club. I have had this die from Memory Box in my craft stash for well over a year and a half….and it has NEVER made it onto a card until now! Better late than never.

I sponged distress ink onto the small focal panel and to create the stars I spritzed the panel with some water from a mister bottle before dabbing it away with a dry cloth. It created just the right amount of stars for my scene.

God Bless You | Marion Vagg

Hope that you will be able to find some time this week to join in on the fun.

Muse Challenge #101

Wow what a HUGE response we had at Muse Card Club last week for our 1ooth Challenge. So to kick off the 101st challenge, I have a very clean and simple card for you.

Simple elegance | Marion Vagg

This card is a mini card (approximately 3.5 x 4.5 inches). It was actually one card of a set of 6 cards which I made for my daughter’s preschool teacher. I couldn’t help making them in a rainbow of bright colours.
