Spotlight on Sweet Spring 5 – Penny Black

Hello! I’m back with my fifth and final installment for Penny Black, using products from their latest catalogue called Sweet Spring. Actually I have 2 cards to share – very similar, yet slightly different. The main focus of both cards uses this awesome Creative die called Leaf Pattern.

Leaf Pattern

First I created an inked panel using Salty Ocean, Lucky Clover and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide inks. I die cut this panel with the Leaf Pattern die. I also die cut another one out, but from white card stock. I then inlaid all of the coloured pieces into the white negative space and also the white pieces into the coloured negative space – to create two panels that are the opposite of each other. This was quite time consuming, but I found this quite therapeutic and relaxing.

This first card was the easier of the two cards to make. To finish this one off, I die cut a black banner using the Birds and Banners Creative dies and white heat embossed the sentiment which is from the coordinating Banner Sentiments stamp set. I added some subtle shading to the banner with a white Prismacolor pencil to give it some dimension.

For the second card I stepped it up a notch. I die cut a circle into the Leaf Pattern panel using the circle from the Layered Xmas Wreath die set. Behind the window that this created, a placed an impressed panel of the Leaf Pattern die, making sure to line up the patterns. The wonderful word sentiment is from the Awesome creative die set, which I die cut three times and adhered together to make it stronger. I suspended this over the window.

I found a felt heart floating around in my stash, and it fit perfectly behind the sentiment and in the window. It was just a pop of colour that this card needed. I coated the wonderful sentiment in a layer of clear shimmer pen.

Spotlight on Sweet Spring 2 – Penny Black

Hello again! I’m back with my second card using some of the awesome Penny Black products from their latest catalogue called Sweet Spring.

Today’s card features a beautiful creative die called Cherry Blossom. Cherry blossoms are so pretty – one day I would love to go and see them in all their glory in Japan.

Cherry Blossom

After cutting a panel from Strathmore Bristol smooth white card stock, I blended on some blue ink with an inking blending tool. I die cut several cherry blossoms and coloured them with Copic markers before adhering them to the panel.

The sentiment is from an older Penny Black set called Sentiment Collection. I then 3D mounted the focal panel onto a white card base.

Spotlight on Sweet Spring – Penny Black

Hello! Over the next week I’ll be sharing 5 cards with you showcasing some of the new release goodies from the latest Penny Black catalogue called Sweet Spring. For me, spring is all about flowers. I simply love flowers – the more colourful the better, and this catalogue doesn’t disappoint in that area.

Today’s card is a window card, which features two new creative die sets called Flower Flourish and Stitched Square and Circle dies.

Flower Flourish

Stitched Square and Circles

After die cutting the Flower Flourish twice from white card stock, I coloured it with Copic markers and coated them with a layer of shimmer pen. On the card base, I first dry embossed the second largest circle die into my card base. To create the window, I die cut the second smallest circle from the die.

I blended on some lime green ink onto the card base and to add some interest, I used the Penny Black Oscillations stencil and a darker shade of green to add the subtle dots. I also intensified the embossed pattern on the edge of the circle with the  darker shade of green ink.

I adhered the florals with some liquid adhesive and added gems to the flower centres. The sentiment is from an older Penny Black stamp set called Sentiment Collection.

Scentsational – Jane’s Doodle

Jane's Doodle Banner

I’m over on the Jane’s Doodles blog today, where I have been testing out Jane’s new dies! I can report that they cut like butter. I created this little scene using the Stinks stamp set and the matching Stinks dies. What’s even more exciting is that Jane is offering 20% off store wide today!

I had fun creating this little scene. After stamping and die cutting the images, I coloured them with Copics. I did a little Distress Oxide ink blending behind the circle panel which was cut from some wood grain card stock – which I am hoarding as I love it so much and have a limited supply. Any fellow Aussie crafters know where I can get some heavier weight wood grain card stock in Australia at a decent price? I’d love to hear from you.

I also have a few other JD projects that I have made which I haven’t posted here yet, from a couple of weeks ago. You can find the original post here. If you want to know any of the supplies for these two, just contact me and I’ll let you know!

And this one.

Love You – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

I am back with a card that I made for the Jane’s Doodles blog last week. And did you catch the VERY exciting news for Jane’s Doodles fans? I won’t spoil it – head here for my card and the announcement.

Today’s card was inspired by an advertisement I saw flipping through some junk mail recently. Inspiration is all around us.

Firstly, I die cut the large Love You letters (MFT dies) from masking paper and positioned them on the card (this was the most time consuming part of making the card – lining them up to be straight!). I then grabbed some hearts from various Jane’s Doodles sets (Monster Squad, Dogs and Love Birds) and got stamping around the letters using Distress Oxide inks (and one Memento Luxe ink). It was fun to peel away the masked letters to reveal the stamping. All that was left to do was stamp and colour the birds from the Love birds set and the sentiment and add them to my card.

I just love how it turned out – especially after adding those googly eyes!

Supplies

Stamps: Jane’s Doodles Love Birds, Dogs and Monster Squad stamp sets

Card: X-Press It blending card

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Distress Oxide ink – Candied Apple, Abandoned Coral, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Worn Lipstick, Memento Luxe ink – Morocco

Other Supplies: Prismacolor pencils, MFT High rise Uppercase Die-namics dies, Cuttlebug, Inkadinkadoo masking paper, Googly eyes, 3D mounting foam

Thanks for stopping by today. I am enjoying my summer holidays and have a few more weeks left until school starts again. I love holidays!
