Inspirational Sentiments – Penny Black ‘Refreshing’ Inspiration #3

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is refreshing-banner-1.jpg

Good evening! I’m back with another card instalment using the latest release from Penny Black called Refreshing.

Today I have two almost identical cards – I just changed up the colours and the sentiments. The sentiments are from the Inspirational Sentiments set (which by the way has some beautiful Bible verses and quotes in it). The leaves are all from the Groovy Greenery set.

I white heat embossed the sentiments onto some blue and green coloured card stock. I stamped the leaf images around the outside of each panel – making sure to use lots of anti-static powder. I then heat embossed these leaves with Liquid Platinum embossing powder. To add some interest I used two different shades of Prismacolor pencils and coloured the leaves in.

To finish off each card I foam mounted it onto a white card base and added some pearl Liquid Nuvo drops amongst the leaves.

And here they are together. I think the blue version is my favourite. Which do you prefer?

With Love – Penny Black Dreaming Inspiration #5

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is penny-black-dreaming-june-2019.jpg

I’m back with another adorable Penny Black critter. This stamp is called A Present and is from the Dreaming release. The sentiment is from the It’s Your Day stamp set.

I coloured the image with Copic markers and for something different I used Prismacolor pencils to add the shading. The dotty stencil is an older one, but I use it all the time and it is called Oscillations. I die cut the circle window using a standard sized circle die from Spellbinders.

Good evening! Today I have a card featuring some cute Penny Black Hedgies from the latest Dreaming release. This stamp set is called Hedgie Harmony – and has some adorable musical themed images. I chose to work with the cello and had a lot of fun colouring this one. I used a mixture of Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils.

Penny Black – Garden Gems

simplicity sister

Hello! I hope this post finds you well. I am on spring break from school and I AM LOVING IT! Sleeping in, making cards, playing games with the kids…it is so good to stop and unwind from work.

Today I have a card for Penny Black that uses a technique that I have never tried before! I guess it is no-line colouring, but for me it was so good to get out the Prismacolor pencils and blend and play! This wasn’t a quick card to make, but I sure enjoyed the colouring process.

The stamp I used is the Penny Black Garden Gems rubber stamp. I stamped this is VersaFine Smoky Grey ink. The great thing about this stamp is that it shows the shading, so it helps me to know where to put the shadows and highlights.

The sentiment is from the Penny Black Happy Critters stamp set and was white heat embossed onto some grey card stock.

Love You – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

I am back with a card that I made for the Jane’s Doodles blog last week. And did you catch the VERY exciting news for Jane’s Doodles fans? I won’t spoil it – head here for my card and the announcement.

Today’s card was inspired by an advertisement I saw flipping through some junk mail recently. Inspiration is all around us.

Firstly, I die cut the large Love You letters (MFT dies) from masking paper and positioned them on the card (this was the most time consuming part of making the card – lining them up to be straight!). I then grabbed some hearts from various Jane’s Doodles sets (Monster Squad, Dogs and Love Birds) and got stamping around the letters using Distress Oxide inks (and one Memento Luxe ink). It was fun to peel away the masked letters to reveal the stamping. All that was left to do was stamp and colour the birds from the Love birds set and the sentiment and add them to my card.

I just love how it turned out – especially after adding those googly eyes!

Supplies

Stamps: Jane’s Doodles Love Birds, Dogs and Monster Squad stamp sets

Card: X-Press It blending card

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Distress Oxide ink – Candied Apple, Abandoned Coral, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Worn Lipstick, Memento Luxe ink – Morocco

Other Supplies: Prismacolor pencils, MFT High rise Uppercase Die-namics dies, Cuttlebug, Inkadinkadoo masking paper, Googly eyes, 3D mounting foam

Thanks for stopping by today. I am enjoying my summer holidays and have a few more weeks left until school starts again. I love holidays!

Happy Birthday Kitty Cat

simplicity sister

I’m back with a card that I made for my husband for his birthday that was earlier this week. I’m not too good at producing masculine cards, so I went down the cutesy card path instead. Anyway, he liked his card, so that is all that matters right?

I stamped the cat and balloon from the Time to Celebrate stamp set onto a white panel and coloured it with a mixture of Copic Markers and Prismacolor pencils. I then masked off the cat and created my own cloud mask and sponged on some clouds using Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans Distress ink. The sentiment is from the Kind Words stamp set (I did a little bit of stamp surgery here). To finish off the card I covered the balloons in Glossy Accents to make them shine.

Penny Black products used:

Penny Black 30-414 Time to Celebrate stamp set
Penny Black 30-226 Kind Words stamp set

Supplies

Stamps: Penny Black Time to Celebrate and Kind Words stamp sets

Card: Xpress-It card stock

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black ink, VersFine Onyx black ink, Distress Inks – Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans
