PDCC#88

Hi,

Dropping in quickly with my entry into the current Play Date Cafe Challenge #88.

I am currently on holidays with my family but loved this week’s colour combination so much, I had to have a play. I only bought a limited supply of crafty things with me, so I had to make my own flowers – I think they look like poppies. Lots of distress ink here! Not the best photo but you get the idea.

Supplies:

Stamps: Hero Arts Classic Fabric Design (CG245)
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Broken China, Dried Marigold, Barn Door, Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint
Card: Regal Craft Card (white textured square single fold, X-Press-It white blending card
Other Supplies: Blending tool, black brads, ribbon (I coloured it with Broken China distress ink), Glossy Accents (to adhere the flowers and leaves), Tim Holtz ruler (for pin pricking), pin pricking tool and mat

Update 1:
Since coming home from holidays, I thought that this card was missing something – so I added a sentiment – a Kaisercraft ‘Thanks’ rub on. Here is what it looks like now.

Thanks for stopping by,

Marion

Update #2 July 2011:
The first version of this card got me a “Cream in our Coffee” badge at PDCC#88.

Little Submarine

Hi!

I had a little chance to get creative tonight. This cute little submarine is from the WaltzingMouse stamp set called ‘Half Pint Heroes’. Super cute or what?

My inspiration for this came from Kathy Racoosin’s card which she created for her colour palette challenge over at Lily Pad Cards. I was immediately drawn to the background and so have interpreted it in my own way.

I am entering this into the Lily Pad Card’s Inspirational Challenge #3 and also JayGee’s Nook Challenge #9 where the inspirational photo is this. Obviously I went with the nautical theme!

I did some masking to create the sea bed (using distress inks) and of course good old Glossy Accents for the port hole. The background was super fiddly but I set myself a challenge and I wasn’t going to let it beat me! I coloured in the submarine with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol.

Supplies:

Stamps: Waltzing Mouse Stamps – Half Pint Heroes
Ink: Versafine Ink – Onyx Black, Memento – Tuxedo Black, Distress inks – Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Peeled Paint, Verscolor cubes – Bamboo
Card: Regal Craft Card (white square single fold), X-Press It Blending card
Other Supplies: Prismacolor pencils, Gamsol, blending stubs, foam dimensionals, Basic Grey Buttons, Glossy accents, Copic Marker- green, black felt pen, Creative Memories circle cutters, kitchen twine

Thanks for stopping by.

Marion

Update July 11:
This card received a Fantastic Froggin’ Four award at the Inspirational #3 challenge at Lily Pad Cards.

Another day, another dino!

Hello fellow crafties,

Yet another dino card from me….but don’t you think he is cute? I just love how versatile this little guy from The Digistamp Boutique is.
My cousin has just had a little boy and so I have made this card for baby Riley. I really had lots of fun stamping the text on the background….really subtle, but effective. And yes…it was stamped with distress inks!

I thought the kitchen twine bow finished him off nicely.

I am entering this into The Digistamp Boutique June monthly competition.

Supplies:

Stamps: Eric Dino – Digi stamp from the DigiStamp Boutique, ‘Baby’ sentiment (not sure of the brand – was from a really cheap stamp set from a really cheap variety shop)
Ink: Printer, VersaColor Cubes – Atlantic, Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Dried Marigold, Scattered Straw
Card: Regal Craft Card (white square single fold), white card, green card
Other Supplies: Spellbinders Nestabilities – Labels 2, kitchen twine, foam dimensionals, blending tool, Glossy Accents, Copic marker – brown

Thanks for looking,

Marion

Good afternoon,

I have a whole heaps of little cards to share with you today…from my playings from the weekend. These are Clean and Simple to the max!!…but so great for my stash when I need a quick card.

All of the cards use the current Play Date Cafe Challenge #86 colours…but I got a little distracted and added green to most of them.

So let’s begin…and I am entering this first one into the PDCC#86… hope it is not too simple! Can you see the subtle Envelope Pattern stamped on the flower? I also hand drew the border.

Aren’t these little birdies cute? They are from the Waltzing Mouse “Teeny Trees” set.

Thanks and Thinking of You

Hi everyone,

I had a really crafty weekend and made a whole heaps of cards…what a great way to spend a weekend I say!!

This first card is one I created for the Play Date Cafe challenge #86 where the colour challenge was pink, sky blue and orange. Such fun summery colours…check out the inspiration photo.

So I got out my WaltzingMouse “Teeny Trees” stamp set and had some fun playing and this is what I came up with! This is my first play along with PDCC.

The sentiment is a rub-on and I stamped the circles with Distress inks (loving these inks at the moment!)

The second card I want to share with you is one that is very similar to this card I made a couple of weeks ago…this time I tried blue distress inks with a different sentiment. I really love this one. The white in the middle of the flowers is white enamel accents from Ranger. (And if you are reading this Katrina – this is one of the ones that is coming your way very soon in your little bundle of cards!)

A close up of the dimension on the card!

Case Study #44

Seeing as Jill Foster is this month’s muse at the CASE Study Challenge Blog, I couldn’t resist having a play along. Jill is one of my all time favourite card makers. I love the colours and vibrancy of her cards….it sings volumes to me!

So here is her card…

And here is my take. As you can see I used the same red/orange in the background and the same layout.

And a close up showing the background detail. I clear embossed the Hero Arts Classic Fabric Design stamp over the top of my distress ink background. I had to do a lot of fussy cutting around those flowers, which are coloured in with Copic markers.

Supplies:

Stamps: Hero Arts Delicate Blossoms stamp set (CL449), Hero Arts Classic Fabric Design (CG245), Waltzingmouse ‘Teeny Trees’ stamp set for ‘Birthday Wishes’ sentiment
Ink: Memento Ink – Tuxedo Black, Versafine Ink – Onyx Black, Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Dried Marigold, Barn Door, Scattered Straw
Card: Regal Craft Card (white textured DL single fold (cut to size), X-Press-It white blending card
Other Supplies: Copic Markers, American Crafts clear embossing powder, blending tool, kitchen twine, chipboard tag, foam dimensionals.

That’s all for today folks. Thanks for stopping by,

Marion
