Blue Birds – Penny Black

simplicity sister

Hello – just a quick post to share a serene little scene using a Penny Black die called Layered Scene. This die set actually comes with two dies that can be layered, but I chose to use just one of the layers. I die cut the scene from white card stock and then used my Copic markers to selectively colour in the different areas. I did add some dimension on the birds by using some 3D mounting foam.

It is very rare that I make a card with no sentiment, but I felt this one didn’t need one.

Love You and a snake!

Jane's Doodle Banner

I’m popping in quickly to share another card I have made with Jane’s Doodles stamps. To see the post over on the JD Blog go here.

Being a teacher I just love chalk boards. There is nothing better than writing on one, though they can be really messy with all that dust! I used to dream of being a teacher as a kid and had my own blackboard to play on. When I started teaching 16 years ago, I did have a chalk board, but they have all been replaced with white boards and interactive boards now – not quite the same to write on.

However, I can always recreate that dusty chalkboard look on my cards and that is what I have done today. To do this, I used a baby wipe and swiped on some white pigment ink onto the black card stock. The good thing about using a baby wipe is that you can always wipe off some of the ink if it is too much.

The flowers are from the Doodle Flowers stamp set and the Love you sentiment is from the Love stamp set. The flowers were coloured really simply with a sponge dauber and some Hero Arts inks.

Before I go, I want to share with you a photo of my kids and I and a friendly specimen that visited our school today. There is no better way to learn than to do it the hands-on way. (For the record it was very heavy and very cold to touch!)

You’re Special To Me – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

I have a Jane’s Doodles card to share with you today which is full of colour. To see the post over on the JD Blog go here. I love flowers and it’s a reminder that spring is just around the corner! The trees are starting to bud and I can feel it in the air some days (though not tonight as it is quite chilly again).

I used the Doodle Flowers and Doodle Flowers II stamp sets and the sentiment is from the Daisies stamp set. I created my own polka dot background using the dots from the Doodle Flowers set. All coloured very simply with Copic markers.
