Spotlight on Sweet Spring 3 – Penny Black

I’m back with my third card using products from Penny Black‘s latest catalogue called Sweet Spring. I’ve switched gears today and have opted for a cute furry critter over the florals, and it’s from the Happy Critters stamp set.

Happy Critters

Who doesn’t love those Penny Black kitty cats? I stamped and coloured the image with Copic markers and then fussy cut around the balloon and the cat.

The background was created by blending some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink heavily onto some Strathmore Bristol smooth white card stock. I placed the Zigs and Zags stencil over the inked background and spritzed it with some water. After removing the stencil, I heated it with my heat gun quickly.

Once the background was completely dry, I stamped the cat in the hot air balloon again, directly onto the background as well as the sentiment, also from the same set. I popped up the cat and the balloon with 3D mounting foam to give it some dimension.

Scentsational – Jane’s Doodle

Jane's Doodle Banner

I’m over on the Jane’s Doodles blog today, where I have been testing out Jane’s new dies! I can report that they cut like butter. I created this little scene using the Stinks stamp set and the matching Stinks dies. What’s even more exciting is that Jane is offering 20% off store wide today!

I had fun creating this little scene. After stamping and die cutting the images, I coloured them with Copics. I did a little Distress Oxide ink blending behind the circle panel which was cut from some wood grain card stock – which I am hoarding as I love it so much and have a limited supply. Any fellow Aussie crafters know where I can get some heavier weight wood grain card stock in Australia at a decent price? I’d love to hear from you.

I also have a few other JD projects that I have made which I haven’t posted here yet, from a couple of weeks ago. You can find the original post here. If you want to know any of the supplies for these two, just contact me and I’ll let you know!

And this one.

Peace on Earth – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

I had this card posted over on the Jane’s Doodles blog last week and I forgot to post it here! A fun little Christmas card using a few of Jane’s adorable critters.

I used three of Jane’s sets – Merry Christmas, Winter Fun and Winter Wishes.

I blended in some Distress Oxide inks onto the front panel (Cracked Pistachio and Broken China), then spritzed it with water. I used several circle dies to cut out the holes for the critters. I stamped and fussy cut out the critters, coloured then with Copics and adhered them onto the card base. The front panel was popped up with some foam tape.

Supplies

Stamps: Jane’s Doodles Merry Christmas, Winter Fun and Winter Wishes stamp sets

Card: X-Press It blending card, Strathmore Bristol, card stock

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black ink, VersaFine Onyx Black, Distress Oxide ink – Cracked Pistachio and Broken China

Other Supplies: Copic Markers, Spellbinders standard circle dies, Cuttlebug, 3D mounting foam, Wink of Stella clear glitter, Uniball white Signo gel pen

I hope you are having a fabulous week. I’m on the home straight of writing my school reports. Yay! The end of the school year is fast approaching and there are lots of things to do and be done.

Happy Birthday Kitty Cat

simplicity sister

I’m back with a card that I made for my husband for his birthday that was earlier this week. I’m not too good at producing masculine cards, so I went down the cutesy card path instead. Anyway, he liked his card, so that is all that matters right?

I stamped the cat and balloon from the Time to Celebrate stamp set onto a white panel and coloured it with a mixture of Copic Markers and Prismacolor pencils. I then masked off the cat and created my own cloud mask and sponged on some clouds using Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans Distress ink. The sentiment is from the Kind Words stamp set (I did a little bit of stamp surgery here). To finish off the card I covered the balloons in Glossy Accents to make them shine.

Penny Black products used:

Penny Black 30-414 Time to Celebrate stamp set
Penny Black 30-226 Kind Words stamp set

Supplies

Stamps: Penny Black Time to Celebrate and Kind Words stamp sets

I Love You SNOW Much – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

Hello! I’ve made a cute Christmas shaker card using Jane’s Doodles stamps. You can view the post here on the Jane’s Doodles blog.

I don’t often make shaker cards, but I had an idea to make a snow dome card and I managed to do this with some partial die cutting. I partially die cut a circle and then cut the flat bottom section of the dome using a craft knife and ruler. I need to remember to do partial die cutting more often.

To keep this shaker card simple, I coloured, cut and adhered the trees and reindeer from the Winter Fun stamp set on top of the acetate window, rather than behind. I blended in some ink to create a snowy backdrop behind the acetate. I filled the window with some tiny star sequins. I love how it turned out.

Supplies

Stamps: Jane’s Doodles Winter Fun stamp set

Card: X-Press It blending card

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black ink, VersaFine – Onyx Black ink, Distress Oxide Inks – Wilted Violet, Broken China

Other Supplies: Copic Markers, Acetate, Fun foam, Uniball Signo white gel pen, Martha Stewart sequins, Spellbinders standard Circle die, Cuttlebug, Ink Bending tool, Masking paper

How is your Christmas card stash coming along?
