Stretch Your Stamps cards

I was really inspired by Laurie Willison’s card in the online card class Online Card Class – Stretch Your Stamps 2, on Day 10. Laurie’s clean and simple design really appealed to me, so I thought I would give it a try. My hubby’s comment was ‘that’s a classy card’, so it has the thumbs up from him too. Thanks for your inspiration Laurie. I used the Paper Smooches Reflections stamp set.

Happy Birthday | Marion Vagg

And while I had the same stamp set out, I thought I would do a slightly different version.

Hello | Marion Vagg

The sentiment is white card stock covered with the clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen then I covered the whole thing in Glossy Accents.

Just for you @ Muse

Hello. I’m up again at the Muse Card Club.

muse_logo

For my card, I wanted to incorporate two of my crafting ‘loves’, and they are stamping and die cutting. The background was stamped using the Mama Elephant Modern Borders stamp set, in a gorgeous array of summery colours 🙂 (For those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, it won’t be long until those long summer days will be with us again). The butterfly is a My Favorite Things die.

Just for You | Marion Vagg

There are actually 3 vellum butterflies stacked on top of each other to add some interest and dimension.

Tag You’re It – Challenge #4

It has been fabulous to see the huge participation in the Tag You’re It! Challenge. Keep them rolling in!

This week is a little different for me – as I got to be inspired by my own card! I’ve never done this before, but I found it quite fun!

TYIC_4

I took my inspiration from the shape of the card, the colours I used on the card and also using the inlaid die cut technique. However this time I wanted also incorporate a new technique that I have picked up from Day 6 of the latest Online Card Class – Stretch Your Stamps 2, shown to us by none other than my fellow TYI team mate – Donna Mikasa. Thanks Donna for your continual inspiration 🙂

I white heat embossed the flowers then inked heavily with Distress Inks. Using a cotton bud dipped in water, I went over the flowers to reactivate the ink before dabbing it away with a tissue – removing the colour. Genius! I love the result.

A challenge with Therese

Today my blogging buddy Therese Calvird and I have a little treat for you. When we met in person over a year ago, we decided that we should have a mini challenge between us. It has taken a little while to get off the ground, but better late than never right?

For today’s challenge we are using this gorgeous cake as our inspiration.

I loved the airy look of the butterflies and the overall colour scheme. Here is what I came up with.

You're Loved | Marion Vagg

I white heat embossed the Hero Arts Antique Engraving’s butterfly onto vellum and cut it out. The leaves are also die cut from vellum to replicate that airy look on the cake. In order to create some interest in the background, I blended in some distress inks and then using a Studio Calico Chevron mask, I lightly spritzed it with some water. The water reacts with the distress ink and created a watermark look.

You're Love - Detail | Mario Vagg

Well I am off to Therese’s blog – Lostinpaper, to she what gorgeous creation she has made. How about you hop on over as well?
