Celebrate

Happy Sunday everyone,

I have had a bit of fun playing around with some stamps that haven’t been inked up often enough. It is my very special friend’s birthday, so I needed an appropriate card.

I have used one of the sketches from the current Hero Arts April challenge (as soon as I saw the sketch I knew I had to do something with it). I also decided to play along with the current CAS-ual Friday’s Opposites Attract Challenge CFC #48 (I have used blue and orange/yellow)  and finally LilyPads Cards have a flower Challenge sponsored by Simon Says Stamp.

I had fun making the flower tendrils – I put Glossy Accents on some twine and then wrapped it around a paintbrush until it dried.

Supplies

Stamps: Hero Arts Layered Flowers (CL496), Hero Arts Find Joy (CL497)

Ink: Distress Inks – Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Chipped Sapphire, Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, Peeled Paint, VersaFine Onyx Black

Card: Regal Craft Card – DL textured (card base cut smaller than a DL size), XPress It Blending card, Acquarello Watercolour paper

Other Supplies: Blending tool, AnnaBelle Stamps 0.8mm twine – white, 3D foam adhesive, Arbee Glue on Jewels – round clear, Kaisercraft gems, Glossy Accents, Vellum, Hero Arts ultra fine clear embossing powder, heat tool, Watercolour brush

Thanks for taking the time to drop by. Until next time,

Marion

Say it with…Black

*See post below for Online Card Class Winners*

Happy Friday everyone,

Hope that you had a blessed and relaxing Easter break. This week at AnnaBelle Stamps we have a black challenge for you.

(Tag ac069)

For some inspiration this week I needed a little help so I went blog surfing to some of my favourite card makers to see if I could get some ideas (I think my mojo has gone on holidays!) I ended up at Laurie Willison’s blog and came across this lovely creation. I took this as my starting point. Thanks Laurie for the inspiration!

I just had to have a little bit of colour in it – hence the tab of red ribbon. I white heat embossed Fanciful Flowers onto black card stock. The gingham background was created using Backgrounds by Design #7.

Supplies

Stamps: AnnaBelle Stamps Fanciful Flowers Stamp set, AnnaBelle Stamps BBD#7 Stamp set

Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black, Versamark Watermark ink

Card: Regal Craft Cards – white square textured pre-scored card, AnnaBelle Stamps pre-cut cards (for gingham panel), Plain black card stock

Other Supplies: Spellbinders Labels 2, Cuttlebug, 3D foam adhesive, red saddle stitch ribbon, Zing white embossing powder, heat gun, anti static pillow, black felt pen, Fiskars stamp press

Before I go, Andrea has a little sale happening, but only for today – so go and grab yourself a bargain!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the rest of the DT projects. Their links are on my sidebar.

Until next time,

Marion

‘A Cut Above’ Online Class Winners

Just popping in quickly to announce the winners of the Online Card Class: A Cut Above. I had fun reading when everyone finds time to craft. Me – I’m a night crafter after my kiddies have gone to bed!

Anyway, thanks to my hubby’s random generator, the winners are:

  • Cassie: “Wow- looks like a great class. On weekdays I craft after dinner when I can and on weekends in the morning and sometimes afternoon. I have to work it in around a full time job and two kids!”
  • Mrs Hill: “Wow, I’d love to win a chance at this class! I’ve wanted a Silhouette for years, then recently realized I’d need a traditional one for embossing folders and the like. What’s a girl to do? :) As for my crafting, I should get more done during the day, but I usually do my productive work at night, when my husband is at the gym!”
  • Tui Nathan: “Wow …. Congratulations Marion, how super cool to be rubbing shoulders with this talented group of ladies, but then again … YOU ARE SUPER TALENTED TOO!!! Looove the new blog look …. very much CAS, very much you!!! Oh, yes please …. I would love to go in the draw to win a spot in this class …. I am definitely a Night Owl, would love to be an Early Bird …. but night owl, I am!

Congratulations ladies, I’ve sent you an email.

Thanks to everyone who entered. If you haven’t registered for this class yet, head on over here and do it! You won’t be disappointed!

Love Always – Print Candee Blog Hop

Glad that you have joined me for this month’s blog hop at Print Candee. You should have arrived from the Print Candee blog and after this you need to head on over to Joceyln’s Blog. The Creative Team have been busy whipping up some projects for Mother’s Day.

When I think of my Mum, she loves soft blue colours and roses. So I decided to make a box and combine these two things. I used some gorgeous blue digital papers called Green, Blue Simple Classic Paper Pack 308 (VN Digital Art) to cover the box base and to make the flower I used a lovely pink gingham paper from Essential Digital Paper Pack 300 (VN Digital Art) (I just reduced the opacity to 50%). And here it is.

To make the rose I did a search in Pinterest and came across this rose tutorial. I modified it a little bit to suit my project better. I inked up the edges of the rose with Spun Sugar Distress ink to add a little more depth.

And it all started with this wooden pencil box that I bought from Target –  I just made a lid to fit. I will put some chocolates in it for Mum and then she can use it as a box or maybe even a pencil holder!

Want to win some great prizes? Well, leave comments on each stop of the blog hop to increase your chances to win. Up for grabs are two $10 gift certificates to the Print Candee store. You have until 11:59pm EST on Saturday, April 14th to comment for prizes. The winners will be posted on the Print Candee blog.

Supplies

Digital Images/Stamps: Green, Blue Simple Classic Paper Pack 308 (VN Digital Art), Essential Digital Paper Pack 300 (VN Digital Art), Owlicious (Happy Colors) Paper Pack (Print Candee), AnnaBelle Stamps Fanciful Flowers stamp set

A makeover and a giveaway

Good evening,

I thought that it was time to give the old blog a facelift…and I have done just that (well my talented hubby did actually). I love all the white space and clean lines.

Anyway, onto some exciting news…

You have probably heard that another Online Card Class called A Cut Above is starting next week and I am super thrilled to say that I have been asked to be one of the Guest Designers in the class – alongside some other very talented women!

Join Kristina Werner, Jennifer McGuire, and guest instructor Nichol Magouirk for a jam-packed, creative die cutting class – A Cut Above.

Are you a die cutting expert or do you consider yourself a novice? Do you prefer a traditional die cutting machine or would you rather use your computer to design what you’ll be cutting? Or maybe you’re just not sure! Never fear, we’re here to help! Join Kristina Werner, Jennifer McGuire, guest instructor Nichol Magouirk and many great guests (including me!) for A Cut Above, as they show you the ins and outs and everything you need to know about the various die cutting systems.

You’ll leave class with the knowledge of numerous tips and creative techniques for using the Big Shot, Vagabond, Cuttlebug and Grand Calibur with various types of dies and embossing folders, as well as the Silhouette Cameo. The first half of class will be devoted to traditional die cutting methods and the second half will be focused on the increasingly popular Silhouette (Cameo, SD, and original Silhouette). Simple to complex, beginning to advanced – we’ll cover it all!

This three-week interactive class includes free downloads (including from guest artist Ali Edwards), BIG prizes, galleries, a Q&A forum and lifetime access! Class runs April 16 to May 7, but content will be available for a lifetime. Go here for more info and to register.

Giveaway

So who is up for a giveaway…or 3?

If you would like to be in the running to win a place in this class, leave me a comment on this post by midnight, Thursday the 12th of April (Australian Eastern Standard Time) and tell me what time of the day you do most of your crafting. I’ll choose 3 lucky winners at random. If you have already registered for the class and win, you will be given a refund.

Until next time,

Marion
