Tag – You’re It Challenge #2

We had a massive response to the first Tag You’re It! Challenge. What’s more, you are in for another treat, as our guest designer for Challenge #2 is one of my all-time-favourite card makers – Laura Bassen! And what a beauty it is as well.

TYIC_2I took some of the elements from Laura’s tag – the leaves, the die cut and the colour. To create the multicoloured sunburst background, I used Distress markers and coloured each ray individually and then spritzed lightly with water before stamping.

A challenge with Therese

Today my blogging buddy Therese Calvird and I have a little treat for you. When we met in person over a year ago, we decided that we should have a mini challenge between us. It has taken a little while to get off the ground, but better late than never right?

For today’s challenge we are using this gorgeous cake as our inspiration.

I loved the airy look of the butterflies and the overall colour scheme. Here is what I came up with.

You're Loved | Marion Vagg

I white heat embossed the Hero Arts Antique Engraving’s butterfly onto vellum and cut it out. The leaves are also die cut from vellum to replicate that airy look on the cake. In order to create some interest in the background, I blended in some distress inks and then using a Studio Calico Chevron mask, I lightly spritzed it with some water. The water reacts with the distress ink and created a watermark look.

New challenge at AnnaBelle Stamps

I’m back with a new sketch for the AnnaBelle Stamps monthly challenge.

ac180

Today I’ve created a fun water coloured boat scene. Perfect for a little boy’s birthday. The boat is from the Boy’s Party Stamp set and the sentiment is from the Beside the Sea Stamp set. I had fun getting very inky with this one.

I have really loved the latest online card class – Watercolour for Card makers. For my card today I painted a stamped image with distress inks as shown on Day 5 and 6. I really felt like an artist and I loved how it turned out!

Faux Hand Painting

I’m back with another card for the Online card class – Watercolor for Cardmakers.

I have been totally inspired and simply blown away by both of Dawn Woleslagle’s watercolouring techniques shown on Day 7 and 8 of class. I hadn’t thought to do this technique, but since watching, I can’t stop. I’m addicted! I stamped the images in Distress ink and then I painted over the top with water. I had fun and I felt like a real painter!
