Jane Beljo’s Birthday Blog Hop with a HUGE sale and giveaway

Hello and welcome to Jane’s Birthday Blog Hop. Jane is the awesome creator and mastermind behind Jane’s Doodles and I am honoured to be on her design team. Today we are celebrating Jane’s 46th birthday and she is having a 46% off sale in the JD store.

Today the DT have been asked to create a card using our favourite JD stamp set. This may have been a really hard choice as she has sooooo many awesome stamp sets (which are all hand drawn by the way), but one in particular always steals my heart and it is the Outdoors stamp set.

I have created a little outdoors scene using the most adorable animals. I just love this moose – he is my most favourite of all the JD critters. For this card I did some masking and I fussy cut the frame and mountains and popped that up over an ink blended sky. The moose and raccoon are coloured with Copics, but I also added in some Prismcolor pencil shading as well.

Now aren’t these two adorable? And just to show you how much I love this moose, here’s an oldie but a goodie using the moose (the original post for that card can be found here).

New Penny Black Christmas Releases

Hello! I know it has been a little while since I posted here – almost two months ago. It’s not because I haven’t been crafting, it is just that my life has been super busy. However the good news is that I am now on my summer holiday break, and I have just finished the hardest and most challenging year of my teaching career.

Penny Black have been very busy releasing some new Christmas awesomeness in two releases – Season of Hope and Winter Wishes. Due to COVID, things took a little longer to reach me, but you will be pleased to now that I have a lot lined up to show you this coming week.

My first project isn’t a card, but rather a Christmas decor piece using the Mirthful and Winter Greens creative dies. I love both of these dies as they are slightly bigger than usual.

The Joy is popped up on some foam squares, but the leaves are adhered to the base, which is a whole piece of Neenah solar white card stock. The ‘To the World’ sentiment is from an older Christmas set called Holiday Snippets – I reach for this set every year and white heat embossed it onto black card stock.

I added some pearl drops to the berries to add some dimension. I simply love how it turned out!

Next up is a sweet little winter scene using some cute critters from the Scarved Sweeties set. This one is pretty straight forward – stamped and coloured with Copics and then I added some white gel pen detail for the snow. The trees in the background are from the Snowfield Friends stamp set. I really love creating scenes.

Thanks for sticking with me in this post. To view and or purchase any of these new products from this release, head to the Penny Black online store.

If you have any questions, just email me.

I’ll be back really soon,

Marion

Happy Bird-Day – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

Today I had the chance to play with another one of Jane’s newer stamp sets called Tropical Birds. I had a lot of fun colouring in the toucan, which I coloured with Copic markers. I fussy cut the leaves and flowers and clustered them together around the oval die cut, which I popped up onto some foam tape.

The sentiment is from an older set called Free as a Bird.

Speaking of Copic markers, I have had to do a lot of Copic maintenance lately as many of my Copics have been running dry. I have also recently discovered that the Copic marker refills have changed – Copic is no longer making the larger Various Ink refills, but are now making the smaller (and more expensive) round 12ml refills. I must have been under a rock, as I didn’t know this – but with lots of research I have found that this shop in Australia called The Art Shop, still have many of the larger refills in stock and I went shopping (the price point was pretty good too). Also on my research journey I found that some Copic colours have been discontinued and some colours have had a name change! I’d love to know if you knew all this – or am I the only one who hadn’t heard?

Anyway, thanks for sticking with me.

Wonderful You – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

Hello. I have another Jane’s Doodles card to share with you today, one that was up on the JD blog earlier this week. Well as many of you know, for many months Jane was unable to send me any new sets die to postage restrictions to Australia. Thankfully that has changed now, and last week I received all the sets that I had missed out on since June….I love playing with new stamps.

Well I got to work straight away and I used the Wonderful You stamp set and created this.

I used some masking paper to mask off the oval and blended in some Distress Oxide inks (Abandoned Coral and Fossilized Amber). The flowers were coloured with Copics and fussy cut before rearranging them a thousand times before I can up with this. The sentiment is from the same set.

And I also realised I hadn’t shared these cards with you either – again all JD cards. This card uses the Seamus stamp set.

And this card uses the adorable Outdoors set – I can’t get enough of that moose!

If you have any questions about my cards, just contact me and I’d be happy to answer them.

Thanks for stopping by,

Critters Galore – Penny Black ‘Refreshing’ Inspiration #5

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is refreshing-banner-1.jpg

Me again! Two posts in 2 days! What is happening to me? Well these posts are the fruit of a very productive crafty weekend. I’ve had such fun in the studio of late. These adorable critters from Penny Black are from the Refreshing release and I just couldn’t stop at one tag – so made 4!

All these cute critters are from the Critter Delights stamp set.

I used the Tagged creative metal die set and die cut 4 tags. I then stamped each image onto a tag with Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured them with Copic markers. (Once coloured, I like to re-stamp over the image again in VersaFine Onyx black ink as it makes everything pop!).

I die cut the Silver Linings cloud dies out of some Post-It notes and used these as a stencil to create the clouds in the backgrounds. I kept on moving it around and changing up the angles. I used Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink for the clouds.

The sentiments are all from the Carefree Wishes stamp set from a previous release.

Thanks for sticking with me through this photo heavy post. I had a lot of fun creating these tags and know that they will come in very handy for my kid’s friends birthdays.

To view and or purchase any of these new products from this release, head to the Penny Black online store.

If you have any questions, just email me.

Until next time,

Cat Polaroid – Penny Black ‘Refreshing’ Inspiration #2

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is refreshing-banner-1.jpg

I’m back with my second instalment using the latest release from Penny Black called Refreshing.

I have not one, but two cards to share which are very similar – I just changed up the cat images, the colours and the sentiments.

Both of these cute cat images are from the Plant Joy stamp set. The sentiments are once again made from two different sets. The ‘You’ is from the Only You stamp set (from a previous release), and the ‘are the cat’s meow’ and ‘make life sweet’ portions are from the set called Trust Me Builder. I used the Polaroid creative die for both cards.

It doesn’t show so well in the first photo, but in the second photo you can see that I have used the Zigs and Zags stencil to add some subtle tone-on-tone detail to the base card.

In the second card I again used the Oscillations stencil.

Thanks for stopping by. To view and or purchase any of these new products from these releases, head to the Penny Black online store.

If you have any questions, just email me.

Until then,

Marion
