Build a House – Penny Black

I’m back with another card using Penny Black products from their recent Bliss release. This time I had fun playing with a Creative die called Build a House. So many fun combinations can be made with this die. I opted for a really clean and simple card.

I coloured the house parts with a mixture of Copics and Distress inks. Once assembled, I coated the roof and front door with some clear Wink of Stella for some shine. It’s a bit hard to tell, but I put some Glossy Accents into the windows to give them a more realistic look.

The sentiment is one that I created from two sentiments from the All Things Great stamp set. I did a little bit of stamp surgery, and that allows me to get more mileage from my stamp sets.

Love U – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

A couple of days ago I had a Valentine’s card up on the Jane’s Doodle blog, using the Winter Fun stamp set. These reindeer make me smile!

I stamped and then coloured the images with Copic Markers. The banner between the two reindeer is from the Love Birds set, and I hand wrote the sentiment with a Copic Multi liner.

To add some fun details, their noses are coated in Glossy Accents and I added spots to their scarves. I stamped the heart background with some Teal coloured ink, to create a subtle tone-on-tone effect.

Love You and a snake!

Jane's Doodle Banner

I’m popping in quickly to share another card I have made with Jane’s Doodles stamps. To see the post over on the JD Blog go here.

Being a teacher I just love chalk boards. There is nothing better than writing on one, though they can be really messy with all that dust! I used to dream of being a teacher as a kid and had my own blackboard to play on. When I started teaching 16 years ago, I did have a chalk board, but they have all been replaced with white boards and interactive boards now – not quite the same to write on.

However, I can always recreate that dusty chalkboard look on my cards and that is what I have done today. To do this, I used a baby wipe and swiped on some white pigment ink onto the black card stock. The good thing about using a baby wipe is that you can always wipe off some of the ink if it is too much.

The flowers are from the Doodle Flowers stamp set and the Love you sentiment is from the Love stamp set. The flowers were coloured really simply with a sponge dauber and some Hero Arts inks.

Before I go, I want to share with you a photo of my kids and I and a friendly specimen that visited our school today. There is no better way to learn than to do it the hands-on way. (For the record it was very heavy and very cold to touch!)

Love You – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

I’m back with another card using Jane’s Doodles stamps.  You can find it here on the Jane’s Doodles blog. I used the Anemone and Love stamp sets. The anemone (I had to extend the stem with a black marker) was coloured with Copic markers and I thought it looked rather like a poppy by the time I was done with it. I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine black ink and then clear heat embossed it. I made a small slit with my craft knife above and below the sentiment and put the stem of the anemone through the slits.

Poppy Love – Penny Black

simplicity sister

Hello! I’m back with another card for Penny Black. I really enjoyed making this card – it was a labour of love, as it took me hours, but I love the final result. Water colouring is such a forgiving technique to play with and it was fun to get out my Gansai Tambi watercolours again.

I white heat embossed the Penny Black Poppy Gems stamp onto some watercolour paper then went to town water colouring. The sentiment is from the Penny Black For You die set.

Love
Jane's Doodles Love

First up I have a one layer card. After stamping the ‘Love You’ sentiment in Hero Arts Pale Tomato ink, I then stamped it again onto some masking paper and cut around the letters leaving a small white border. I placed the mask over my stamped sentiment and then used the love heart stamp from the set and stamped it all over the panel with Hero Arts Soft Pool ink.

JD Love You | Marion Vagg

To create the background of this next card, I mixed some Festive Berries Distress ink with some white embossing paste and used a love heart stencil from My Favorite Things. The ‘You’ and ‘Me’ were white heart embossed onto the heart die cut. I hand drew a plus with a Versamark pen and then white heat embossed that as well.
