Masking and Embossing powders

I have a few more cards I want to post before the end of the online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3.

CS3_paticipant

I simply loved Cristina Kowalczyk’s card using masking and embossing powders. Very clever indeed. Instead of having a blank space between the different colours of embossing powders, I used a silver glittery embossing powder.

Hello Friend | Marion Vagg

This card was fiddly (and this was the second attempt), so not sure I would do it again in a hurry, but it certainly is a one layer card (except for the red heart). Removing all the masking tape to reveal the final card was fun though.

Creative colouring with watercolours

Yes, me again…lots of posting due to the online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3.

CS3_paticipant

Today I tried some creative colouring techniques. I took Jennifer’s Rsaza water-colouring idea and modified it by creating a background rather than an image. Yep, all artsy and free form from me today. It started out being a one layer card, but I had to trim it in the end, so its almost a one layer card ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Birthday | Marion Vagg

Iron off Embossing technique

I’m back with some more cards for the online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3.

CS3_paticipant

For these cards, I have used a new technique for me – iron off embossing as shown by Jennifer McGuire on Day 5. I tried two different colour schemes. Now if you are a one layer purist, these are not one layer cards, but as I didn’t add the watercolour panel on with any foam dimensionals, it is close enough for me.

Friend | Marion Vagg

And this is the FIRST time I have used sequins on a card. I am not usually a fan of sequins, but I thought they added something to the cards.

Hello Hello Hello

A big hello from me this week for the Muse Card Club.

muse_logo

I recently purchased the Paper Smooches Quote Tag die and I simply love the ‘hello’ word die. I die cut it multiple times from various Hero Arts layering papers and simply adhered them to a white card base.

Hello | Marion Vagg

To make the black word pop, I stacked up 5 die cuts, then covered the top one in the clear Wink of Stella glitter brush pen before coating it with Glossy Accents.

Playing around with Plaid

Today I am donning my Laura Bassen hat and attempting to create a plaid pattern for the first time for the online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3.

CS3_paticipant

I created the stripes using masking tape as shown in her video. I could watch this woman stamp all day – so much talent and comedy all wrapped up in one video. Below are two versions that I came up with.

Enjoying some Masking

I’m back with another card for the online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3.

CS3_paticipant

Today I cut some stars out of some masking paper and then used the negative space as a mask. Then I clear heat embossed the Hero Arts Flower Dot pattern before blending in a rainbow of colours. Happy and bright and a one layer card ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy|Marion Vagg

It’s hard to tell, but I covered the colourful stars in some clear Wink of Stella brush glitter pen.

Enjoy - Detail | Marion Vagg
