Watercolouring with an acrylic block

I’m back with another card for the Online card class – Watercolor for Cardmakers.

WC_participant

Both of these cards use the technique of inking an acrylic block, spritzing with water and then stamping, as shown by Laura Bassen on Day 1. I love the unpredictablitiy of this technique.

The ‘thanks’ is die cut and is recessed into the panel, whereas the ‘hello’ is die cut and 3 layers are placed on top of the focal panel.

Watercolour Hello

Hello…remember me? I know its been a long time. There have been several reasons for my absence, but mostly I just needed a break from card making. Ever been there?

Anyway, I am currently taking the Online card class – Watercolor for Cardmakers and I made a card!

WC_participant

For this card I created a watercoloured background using distress markers. Firstly I heat embossed the background stamp in white embossing powder and then roughly coloured the image in with Distress Markers. I then spritzed the panel with water and watched the colours blend.

Once dry I cut out the letters and inlaid them back in to create a flush image.

Creative colouring with watercolours

Yes, me again…lots of posting due to the online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3.

CS3_paticipant

Today I tried some creative colouring techniques. I took Jennifer’s Rsaza water-colouring idea and modified it by creating a background rather than an image. Yep, all artsy and free form from me today. It started out being a one layer card, but I had to trim it in the end, so its almost a one layer card 🙂

Playing around with Plaid

Today I am donning my Laura Bassen hat and attempting to create a plaid pattern for the first time for the online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3.

CS3_paticipant

I created the stripes using masking tape as shown in her video. I could watch this woman stamp all day – so much talent and comedy all wrapped up in one video. Below are two versions that I came up with.

Enjoying some Masking

I’m back with another card for the online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3.

CS3_paticipant

Today I cut some stars out of some masking paper and then used the negative space as a mask. Then I clear heat embossed the Hero Arts Flower Dot pattern before blending in a rainbow of colours. Happy and bright and a one layer card 🙂

Enjoy|Marion Vagg

It’s hard to tell, but I covered the colourful stars in some clear Wink of Stella brush glitter pen.

Inlaid Die Cutting

I decided I needed some ‘me’ time as my hubby is currently overseas for 3.5 weeks, and therefore I enrolled in the latest online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3. CS3_paticipant

Inlaid die cutting was a technique shown on Day 1 – I love this technique (I even did a tutorial on it last year here). For this card I used a Paper Smooches die – Quote tags (I just love the font on this die – it comes with a ‘Thanks’ also) and paired it up with the Memory Box Prim Poppy die to create a completely flat card. I love how it all fits back together like a jigsaw puzzle.
