Watercolour and Woodgrain @ Muse

Hello. It is my turn this week at the Muse Card Club.

muse_logo

I have been playing around with some watercolours – and feeling like a real painter, which I am far from mind you! I think the finished focal point looks like a tile. I struggled with the placement of the sentiment, so I left it off.

Textural Effects

I’m back with my last card for the online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3.

CS3_paticipant

I have created another one layer card, concentrating on adding texture with an embossing folder (and using a die as a diffuser) as shown by Julie Ebersole on Day 9. I also decided to give Dawn Woleslagle’s creative colouring technique a go as shown on Day 8. After stamping the floral image, I used a Copic O Blender pen to ‘watercolour’ the image. It is a really cool effect.

Masking and Embossing powders

I have a few more cards I want to post before the end of the online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3.

CS3_paticipant

I simply loved Cristina Kowalczyk’s card using masking and embossing powders. Very clever indeed. Instead of having a blank space between the different colours of embossing powders, I used a silver glittery embossing powder.

Hello Friend | Marion Vagg

This card was fiddly (and this was the second attempt), so not sure I would do it again in a hurry, but it certainly is a one layer card (except for the red heart). Removing all the masking tape to reveal the final card was fun though.

Hello Friend - detail | Marion Vagg

I’m popping this in the Simon Says Stamp Glitter It Challenge.

Creative colouring with watercolours

Yes, me again…lots of posting due to the online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3.

CS3_paticipant

Today I tried some creative colouring techniques. I took Jennifer’s Rsaza water-colouring idea and modified it by creating a background rather than an image. Yep, all artsy and free form from me today. It started out being a one layer card, but I had to trim it in the end, so its almost a one layer card 🙂

Happy Birthday | Marion Vagg

Enjoying some Masking

I’m back with another card for the online card class – Clean and Simple Card making 3.

CS3_paticipant

Today I cut some stars out of some masking paper and then used the negative space as a mask. Then I clear heat embossed the Hero Arts Flower Dot pattern before blending in a rainbow of colours. Happy and bright and a one layer card 🙂

Enjoy|Marion Vagg

It’s hard to tell, but I covered the colourful stars in some clear Wink of Stella brush glitter pen.

Enjoy - Detail | Marion Vagg

I’m also entering this into the Hero Arts Birthday Challenge making a rainbow birthday card.

Friday Feature at AnnaBelle Stamps

This month at AnnaBelle Stamps the Belles have been busy whipping up some projects using the Easter Chickadees Stamp set, which has matching dies as well. For more inspiration, head to the AnnaBelle blog.

FF_Feb2014

To make my card, I traced around a heart die lightly in pencil and then I took the smallest stamp from the set and got to work stamping. I coloured in the flowers with Copic Markers and also die cut some of the same flower to pop up around the heart wreath for some added dimension. I used a flower punch (cut up) to create the leaves and the green dots were stamped with my scoring stylus. The sentiment is from the Love Birds stamp set.

Congratulations
