A Snowman and some Succulents – Jane’s Doodles

Jane's Doodle Banner

I have a couple of Jane’s Doodles projects to share with you which I have made over the last couple of weeks.

First up is a cute little snowman shaker ornament inspired by Jennifer McGuire and also our recent trip to the snow. It uses the Winter Wishes stamp set.

Australia isn’t very well known for its skiing slopes, but we do have some and last weekend we took our kids so that they could have their first ever snow experience. We had SNOW much fun throwing snowballs, making a snowman and tobogganing (there was still plenty of snow left even though it is spring!)

Next up, I have another card to share using the new Cactus stamp set (which you can pre-order). I used Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol to colour in the focal pot. I’m entering this card into the Virginia’s View Challenge #24.

Hello – Sunny Studio

Hello. I hope you are having a great day. I’m popping in to share two cards that are also over on the Sunny Studio blog. These cards use the Backyard Bugs stamp set – another fun and cute set to create with.

I’ll be honest with you here – this first card took me about 5 attempts! I had an idea and it took me a little longer than I had hoped to get there. But get there I did. I must be getting old!
To start with a partially die cut a circle (leaving the bottom of the circle uncut). Next, with some stamping and masking, I stamped my little scene. From there, I used my scissors and cut around the toadstool house to create the cut-a-way section. I blended in some ink on the base card with Salty Ocean distress ink and then popped the front panel up with some 3D mounting foam. Easy! (Hindsight is a wonderful thing!)

The next card is pretty much the same, except I stepped the process up and created a shaker card.

Which one do you prefer? We are divided in my house. My husband likes the first one better, but my daughter loves the shaker card!

Post-It note and pen holder

Hiya!

I have a little crafty project to share today that is not a card! I found this video tutorial at Dawn’s Stamping Studio and thought I would give it a go! So easy to make and as you will see I didn’t stop at one! (LOTS of photos in this post!)

My Mum, sister and I are busy making items for a craft market stall we will be having at the Burdekin Craft Spectacular which is held in my sister’s home town of Ayr in North Queensland. We will all be flying up there in about 3 weeks! Can’t wait! I am soooo busy making heaps of cards (and other crafty things like these note holders) to sell! There is something satisfying about making and selling home made craft items (and no doubt I’ll be buying a few as well!!)

Anyway, the first two holders I am entering into PDCC #90 as I used the challenge colours.

The butterfly is coloured in with prismacolor pencils and gamsol.

Don’t you just love those cute little pens I found?

I painted these flowers with distress inks after embossing the image.

This butterfly is coloured with prismacolor pencils and gamsol.

These butterflies are coloured in with prismacolor and then blended with a blending pencil. Love the colours against the kraft!

More prismacolor and gamsol.

Some left over hearts from my last card.

A lion that has been waiting to be placed on a project for months – from Recollections Zoolicious stamp set. Coloured in with prismacolors and gamsol.

A couple of challenges

Hi-dee-ho,

Hope you are having a good weekend….mine is extra good as it is a long weekend here in Australia (Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday!) Yay!

I have 2 cards to share with you tonight that I am entering into a couple of challenges…. so let’s begin.

First up is a little flowery number for my Mum. She is coming to visit us this weekend! I don’t get to see my Mum very often as she lives 9 hours away, but she is coming to spend 4 nights with us and I wanted to make her a card to tell her I love her. Her favourite flower is a rose so it is a perfect fit! The flower is a digi stamp from the DigiStamp Boutique which I coloured in with prismacolor pencils and gamsol.

I am entering this one into 2 competitions. The DigiStamp June Customer Competition and also the CAS-ual Friday #6 Tic Tac Toe challenge…this is so cool as you get to pick the combination that works best for you!

My combination for this challenge is the diagonal one – Emboss, Dies/Punch, Buttons. I dry embossed the background, my die is the end of a Spellbinder’s Labels 4 die and I have used a beautiful button from Jane’s Doodles.

Next up is another card that I made for the CAS-ual Friday Tic Tac Toe challenge. This time I chose the middle combination – gems, die/punch/flowers. I love how it turned out. I am also entering this one into the June Hero Arts Blog Challenge. This one uses the technique of water colouring with distress inks, water and a paint brush.

Supplies:

[Pink rose]
Stamps: The DigiStamp Boutique “Rose Collection”, Waltzingmouse Stamps – Teeny Trees for the ‘Love you’ sentiment.
Ink: Printer, Versafine Ink – Onyx Black
Card: Regal Craft Card (Square single fold which I cut to form a smaller card), white Bazzill card, white card
Other Supplies: Prismacolor pencils, Gamsol, stubbs, Kaisercraft pearls – pearl, Kaisercraft pink grosgrain ribbon, Jane’s Doodles button, Spellbinders Label 4 die, Cuttlebug, Cuttlebug Embossing folder – Birds and Swirls, foam dimensionals, Glossy Accents (to adhere the button)

[Tall Flower – Thanks]
Stamps: Hero Arts Tall flower woodblock stamp (K5431), Waltzingmouse Stamps – Teeny Trees for the ‘thanks’ sentiment (The sentiment actually says Give Thanks, but I only inked up the thanks part as I didn’t want to cut it up)
Ink: Versafine Ink – Onyx Black, VersaMark watermark ink, Tim Holtz distress inks – Fired Brick, Dried Marigold, Peeled paint, Scattered Straw
Card: Regal Craft Card (Square textured single fold card), X-Press-It blending card
Other Supplies: American Crafts Blck embossing powder, heat gun, Kaisercraft gems, paintbrush, Spellbinders Labels 2 die, Cuttlebug, foam dimensionals, kitchen twine, Tim Holtz blending tool

Thanks for stopping by,

Marion

Update June-11
Tall Flower-Thanks, earned me a spot on the VIP’s List at CAS-ual Friday.
