Summer Card Camp: Week 2

Hi,

We are back from our little holiday away…we had beautiful weather and it was lovely to spend some time away with my family.

Tonight I am sharing with you my take on this week’s colour combo for the Online Summer Card Camp 2011.

I found this week’s colour challenge a little easier than last week. I hadn’t envisioned my card to turn out so green, but I like it – and it doesn’t have a sentiment which is hard for me to do! These colours scream summer to me…not exactly the weather we are experiencing at the moment, but it is nice to imagine that it is summer and not freezing cold winter!!

I stamped the butterflies in Versafine black ink and then clear embossed quickly over the top before it dried. I have never tried this before (I usually use watermark ink then emboss with black powder) but I really like the shine that it gives! The butterflies were coloured with distress inks using my finger sponge daubers. The frame around the nestie was embossed through my cuttlebug and then I used a copic marker to create the green border.

Supplies:

Stamps: Hero Arts Antique Engravings cling stamp set (CL383), Hero Arts Flowing Flowers and Leaves cling stamp (CG146), Hero Arts Envelope Pattern Woodblock stamp (S5507)
Ink: Versafine – Onyx black, Tim Holtz Distress inks – Barn Door, Dried Marigold, Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint, VersaCubes – Bamboo
Card: Regal Craft Card (white textured single fold),  X-Press It blending card
Other Supplies: Zing clear embossing powder, heat gun, foam dimensionals, sponge daubers, Kaisercraft pearls – snow, Spellbinders nesties – label 4, Cuttlebug, white ribbon, Copic marker – green

Thanks for looking,

Marion

Another day, another dino!

Hello fellow crafties,

Yet another dino card from me….but don’t you think he is cute? I just love how versatile this little guy from The Digistamp Boutique is.
My cousin has just had a little boy and so I have made this card for baby Riley. I really had lots of fun stamping the text on the background….really subtle, but effective. And yes…it was stamped with distress inks!

I thought the kitchen twine bow finished him off nicely.

I am entering this into The Digistamp Boutique June monthly competition.

Supplies:

Stamps: Eric Dino – Digi stamp from the DigiStamp Boutique, ‘Baby’ sentiment (not sure of the brand – was from a really cheap stamp set from a really cheap variety shop)
Ink: Printer, VersaColor Cubes – Atlantic, Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Dried Marigold, Scattered Straw
Card: Regal Craft Card (white square single fold), white card, green card
Other Supplies: Spellbinders Nestabilities – Labels 2, kitchen twine, foam dimensionals, blending tool, Glossy Accents, Copic marker – brown

Thanks for looking,

Marion

Tuesday Trigger: Rainbow Bright

Hi,

When I saw this week’s Tuesday Trigger in Moxie Fab World, I knew I had to give it a go. I love bright colours.

I used these fabulous colours in the order they appear to create my colourful background. I cut thin strips, distressed them with distress inks and them stamped the Hero Arts Classic Fabric Design in the same distress ink over the top. Easy peasy.

A close up of the ribbon flowers and sentiment.

Stamps: Hero Arts Classic Fabric Design (CG245), Waltzing Mouse “Teeny Trees” stamp set – Birthday Wishes sentiment
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Broken China, Dried Marigold, Worn Lipstick, Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint, Versafine Ink – Onyx Black
Card: Regal Craft Card (white textured square single fold), White Bazzill card
Other Supplies: Ribbon Roses (Wedding Gift Favors – I found these in a bargain discount shop), Kaisercraft Pearls – snow, Kaisercraft white grosgrain ribbon, Zots Adhesive dots, Blending Tool, Spellbinders labels Four die, Cuttlebug.

Hope you likey as much as I do.

A couple of challenges

Hi-dee-ho,

Hope you are having a good weekend….mine is extra good as it is a long weekend here in Australia (Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday!) Yay!

I have 2 cards to share with you tonight that I am entering into a couple of challenges…. so let’s begin.

First up is a little flowery number for my Mum. She is coming to visit us this weekend! I don’t get to see my Mum very often as she lives 9 hours away, but she is coming to spend 4 nights with us and I wanted to make her a card to tell her I love her. Her favourite flower is a rose so it is a perfect fit! The flower is a digi stamp from the DigiStamp Boutique which I coloured in with prismacolor pencils and gamsol.

I am entering this one into 2 competitions. The DigiStamp June Customer Competition and also the CAS-ual Friday #6 Tic Tac Toe challenge…this is so cool as you get to pick the combination that works best for you!

My combination for this challenge is the diagonal one – Emboss, Dies/Punch, Buttons. I dry embossed the background, my die is the end of a Spellbinder’s Labels 4 die and I have used a beautiful button from Jane’s Doodles.

Next up is another card that I made for the CAS-ual Friday Tic Tac Toe challenge. This time I chose the middle combination – gems, die/punch/flowers. I love how it turned out. I am also entering this one into the June Hero Arts Blog Challenge. This one uses the technique of water colouring with distress inks, water and a paint brush.

Supplies:

[Pink rose]
Stamps: The DigiStamp Boutique “Rose Collection”, Waltzingmouse Stamps – Teeny Trees for the ‘Love you’ sentiment.
Ink: Printer, Versafine Ink – Onyx Black
Card: Regal Craft Card (Square single fold which I cut to form a smaller card), white Bazzill card, white card
Other Supplies: Prismacolor pencils, Gamsol, stubbs, Kaisercraft pearls – pearl, Kaisercraft pink grosgrain ribbon, Jane’s Doodles button, Spellbinders Label 4 die, Cuttlebug, Cuttlebug Embossing folder – Birds and Swirls, foam dimensionals, Glossy Accents (to adhere the button)

[Tall Flower – Thanks]
Stamps: Hero Arts Tall flower woodblock stamp (K5431), Waltzingmouse Stamps – Teeny Trees for the ‘thanks’ sentiment (The sentiment actually says Give Thanks, but I only inked up the thanks part as I didn’t want to cut it up)
Ink: Versafine Ink – Onyx Black, VersaMark watermark ink, Tim Holtz distress inks – Fired Brick, Dried Marigold, Peeled paint, Scattered Straw
Card: Regal Craft Card (Square textured single fold card), X-Press-It blending card
Other Supplies: American Crafts Blck embossing powder, heat gun, Kaisercraft gems, paintbrush, Spellbinders Labels 2 die, Cuttlebug, foam dimensionals, kitchen twine, Tim Holtz blending tool

Marion

Birthday Poppies

I have a different card for you tonight…different from my recent run of cute critters that is!

This card uses the Hero Arts ‘Delicate Blossoms’ stamp set. The sentiment is from the Waltzingmouse ‘Teeny Trees’ stamp set. I used Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. The ribbon was a bit fiddly…not sure how other people do it, but I came up with my own method and I am really pleased with how it turned out.

Ink: Versafine Ink – Onyx Black
Card: Regal Craft Card (white textured single fold), White card
Other Supplies: Prismacolor pencils, Gamsol, Stubs, foam dimensionals, Spellbinders Nesties – Label 4, Cuttlebug, White satin ribbon, Zots clear adhesive dots.

Scrapbook Boutique Easter Challenge

Hi,
If you have been trying to access my blog during the last 24 hours…my apologies for it being offline – it was beyond my control – a data centre problem…but all fixed now!

This is my entry to the current Scrapbook Boutique Easter Challenge….squeezing it in before the deadline tonight!

I have never made an Easter card before….not something I would normally do, but I do love to make little tags! My hubby is away for work at the moment, but my dear friend invited me and my kiddlets to her place for the afternoon and dinner, so I just had to make each of her family a little something special to give them for Easter. It was a bit of a rush job but they turned out OK. Everyone got a little personalised tag to go on a couple of Easter eggs which I packaged up in clear bags and tied off with some ribbon. On the back of the tag I put the bible verse “If the Son sets you free, then you will be free indeed” – John 8:36. A very fitting verse for Easter I thought!

You will have to excuse the photos, but I had to snap these quickly before I had to head out the door to give them away and they weren’t the easiest of things to take decent photos of (cards are a little more straight forward!)

Supplies:

Stamps: Hero Arts ‘Flourish Background’ Cling stamp (CG119), Scrappy Cat ‘Playful Serie’ letters stamps
Ink: Versafine Ink – Onyx Black, Versacolor cubes – Atlantic, Heliotrope, Green Tea, Petal Pink, Bamboo
Card: White card
Other Supplies: Spellbinders nesties – label 4, Cuttlebug, Kaisercraft Flowers, R.E.I buttons, ribbon, clear cello bags, kitchen twine, sponge dauber

Thanks for stopping by. I have got some super cute animal cards to share with you soon…some new stamps arrived last week and I have been having soooo much fun playing with them. Until then,

Marion
