Summer Card Camp: Week 4

Good evening.

Here is the last week’s colour combo for Summer Card Camp – blues, greens and white and I added some neutral colours of dark grey and kraft into the mix.

I clear embossed HA Flowing Flowers and Leaves stamp onto the background…this adds a shiny, subtle texture. I made the leaves myself (one day I will own a die) and the flowers are hand made as well. The leaves have also been cleared embossed with the HA Envelope Pattern Woodblock stamp.

Supplies:

Stamps: Hero Arts “Flowing Flowers and Leaves” cling stamp (CG146), Hero Arts “Envelope Pattern” Woodblock stamp (S5507),
Ink: Versamark watermark ink
Card: Bazzill (Dark grey, lime, white) and American Craft’s (teal, light and dark blue) cardstock
Other Supplies: Zing clear embossing powder, heat gun, foam dimensionals, Kaisercraft pearls – snow, Karl Kraft punch – Ume (to make the flowers), Craft Affair die cut chipboard frame, WRMK corner chomper, Wendy Irving Expressions “Just for you” rub-on, Sellotape Sticky dots

Thanks for dropping by…I’m off to build an ark as it has rained, no poured, non stop for 3 days!

Until next time,

Marion

Christmas in July

Hi there,

It is such a cold and wet winter’s day here…longing for some sunshine! So with that in mind, I have created a Christmas card!

I love to use stamp sets in a way that they are not intended for, and this is just one example. I have used the HA Playful animals set to create this card and the sentiment is from the Teeny Trees Waltzing Mouse set.

Here is the stamp set I used…see the tiny little branch of leaves and the little star…that is what I used!

I drew a circle with pencil first and then I just stamped the little branch around the circle in 2 different shades of green. Added the stars in red, a bow and some pearls and I was done!

I am entering this into the current Scrapbook Boutique Challenge where the theme is Christmas.

Supplies:

Stamps: Hero Arts Playful Animals stamp set (CL155), Waltzing Mouse ‘Teeny Trees’ stamp set
Ink: Versafine Ink – Onyx Black, Versacolor cubes – Bamboo, Green Tea, Distress Ink – Barn Door
Card: Regal Craft Card (white textured square – cut to size), X-Press It blending card, Regal Craft Card – Eucalyptus
Other Supplies: Spellbinder’s Nesties – Labels 2, Cuttlebug, foam dimensionals, Glossy Accents (to adhere bow), thin red ribbon, red saddle stitch ribbon, Martha Steward score board, Kaisercraft pearls – snow, pewter, cream

Thanks for looking,

Marion

Post-It note and pen holder

Hiya!

I have a little crafty project to share today that is not a card! I found this video tutorial at Dawn’s Stamping Studio and thought I would give it a go! So easy to make and as you will see I didn’t stop at one! (LOTS of photos in this post!)

My Mum, sister and I are busy making items for a craft market stall we will be having at the Burdekin Craft Spectacular which is held in my sister’s home town of Ayr in North Queensland. We will all be flying up there in about 3 weeks! Can’t wait! I am soooo busy making heaps of cards (and other crafty things like these note holders) to sell! There is something satisfying about making and selling home made craft items (and no doubt I’ll be buying a few as well!!)

Anyway, the first two holders I am entering into PDCC #90 as I used the challenge colours.

The butterfly is coloured in with prismacolor pencils and gamsol.

Don’t you just love those cute little pens I found?

I painted these flowers with distress inks after embossing the image.

This butterfly is coloured with prismacolor pencils and gamsol.

These butterflies are coloured in with prismacolor and then blended with a blending pencil. Love the colours against the kraft!

More prismacolor and gamsol.

Some left over hearts from my last card.

A lion that has been waiting to be placed on a project for months – from Recollections Zoolicious stamp set. Coloured in with prismacolors and gamsol.

Summer Card Camp: Week 3

Hi there,

This week’s colour combo for the Online Summer Card Camp 2011 is this….and boy did I struggle! Brown and me are just not friends! Thank goodness there was some red and white in there as well!

I don’t mind the card I have made…but it should not have taken the time that it did….how many times can one shuffle pieces of paper around before settling on something? I am sure I am not alone in the art of paper shuffling!

I stamped the HA Flowing flowers and Leaves cling stamp in Versamark watermark ink for the background – love the subtly of this. It looked a bit plain, so I added the white dots using a Signo uniball gel pen. I clear embossed dots onto the brown strip to add another element of texture. I also stamped the HA Envelope Pattern onto the hearts.

Supplies:

Stamps: Hero Arts “Flowing Flowers and Leaves” cling stamp (CG146), Hero Arts “Envelope Pattern” Woodblock stamp (S5507), Waltzing Mouse “Teeny Trees” stamp set (for the sentiment and the clear embossed dots on the brown strip)
Ink: Versamark watermark ink
Card: Regal Craft Card (white textured square single fold – cut down to size), Brown Bazzill x 2 tones, white card
Other Supplies: Kaisercraft ‘Stocking’ patterned paper (for thin red dotty strip), Zing clear embossing powder, Zing white embossing powder, heat gun, foam dimensionals, Kaisercraft pearls – snow, Concentric Hearts Cuttlebug die, Cuttlebug, Karl Kraft small heart punch, kitchen twine, Signo uniball white gel pen

That’s all for today. Until next time,

Marion

Hello Turtle

Good evening,

I have another CUTIE little card made from Jane’s Doodles Garden Friends stamp set. I stamped the hello background from the set and I got the idea to put the flower in his mouth from Emily Leiphart’s card here. It adds a cute little touch and also some colour to the card. I cut out the scalloped border by hand – I think it adds a whimsical touch.

And a close up of those googly eyes!

Supplies:

Stamps: Jane’s Doodles ‘Garden Friends’ stamp set, Hero Arts Envelope Pattern Woodblock stamp (S5507), Hero Arts Playful animals set (for the little star on the background – small, but important!)(CL155)
Ink: Memento – Tuxedo Black, Distress inks – Dried Marigold, Scattered Straw
Card: Regal Craft Card (white square single fold), White card, XPress It blending card
Other Supplies: Nesties Label 2, Google eyes, foam dimensionals, Basic Grey button – orange, Copic Markers, blending tool, Tim Holtz ruler and paper piercer, white DMC thread

Ok, I need to sleep. Until next time,

Marion

With Love

Hi there,

Popping in really quickly to post my entry to the current Scrapbook Boutique Blog Challenge that ends tonight. The inspiration photo was this YUMMY cupcake with the colour challenge being white, lavender and purple.

This card is in a similar style to other cards I have made recently…but once I get on a roll I certainly milk it for all it’s worth!!

I stamped the flower in Versafine black ink and then clear embossed over the top. I then swiped my inks onto an acrylic block, spritzed with water and then painted the flowers with a paintbrush. The embossed flowers meant that it was easy to stay in the lines! (And I have just realised that it looks like the background paper say LOL, but really it says love! He he!) I scored the lines on the panel behind on my score board.

Supplies:

Stamps: Hero Arts Tall flower woodblock stamp (K5431)
Ink: Versafine Ink – Onyx Black, Tim Holtz distress inks – Dusty Corduroy, Peeled Paint, Versacolor – Hyacinth, Heliotrope
Card: Regal Craft Card (Square textured single fold card), X-Press-It blending card
Other Supplies: Kaisercraft ‘With Love’ rub on, Martha Stewart Score board, American Crafts clear embossing powder, heat gun, Kaisercraft pearls – snow, paintbrush, Spellbinders Labels 2 die, Cuttlebug, foam dimensionals, white ribbon, Tim Holtz blending tool, Finger sponge dauber, Copic markers – purple x 2

Thanks for stopping by,

Marion

Summer Card Camp: Week 2

Hi,

We are back from our little holiday away…we had beautiful weather and it was lovely to spend some time away with my family.

Tonight I am sharing with you my take on this week’s colour combo for the Online Summer Card Camp 2011.

I found this week’s colour challenge a little easier than last week. I hadn’t envisioned my card to turn out so green, but I like it – and it doesn’t have a sentiment which is hard for me to do! These colours scream summer to me…not exactly the weather we are experiencing at the moment, but it is nice to imagine that it is summer and not freezing cold winter!!

I stamped the butterflies in Versafine black ink and then clear embossed quickly over the top before it dried. I have never tried this before (I usually use watermark ink then emboss with black powder) but I really like the shine that it gives! The butterflies were coloured with distress inks using my finger sponge daubers. The frame around the nestie was embossed through my cuttlebug and then I used a copic marker to create the green border.

Supplies:

Stamps: Hero Arts Antique Engravings cling stamp set (CL383), Hero Arts Flowing Flowers and Leaves cling stamp (CG146), Hero Arts Envelope Pattern Woodblock stamp (S5507)
Ink: Versafine – Onyx black, Tim Holtz Distress inks – Barn Door, Dried Marigold, Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint, VersaCubes – Bamboo
Card: Regal Craft Card (white textured single fold),  X-Press It blending card
Other Supplies: Zing clear embossing powder, heat gun, foam dimensionals, sponge daubers, Kaisercraft pearls – snow, Spellbinders nesties – label 4, Cuttlebug, white ribbon, Copic marker – green

Thanks for looking,

Marion
